Restaurant, Bar design.
This project began as an empty shell so we designed the entire fitout in 3d CAD including all joinery, a suspended ceiling housing air conditioning and electrical services, flooring and restrooms. Thought was given to sound attenuation. In conjunction with the principle building contractor we oversaw implementation of the design on site, and were responsible for manufacture of all the joinery. Designamax designed then manufactured the bar counter from cast GFR concrete. We fabricated the casting moulds using CNC technology enabling a compound curved servery over 6.5 meters across . The removable facade is dressed with bent laminated timber. We also developed a method of using frame less annealed glass in the joinery.

Counter top from solid Walnut
We were approached to make the Walnut Counter tops and some of the other joinery for The Lakeside Mill in Pakenham. They sought crafters who could produce solid timber joinery with accuracy using interlocking joints for long term stability. The counter tops are finished in a very tough 2 pack. We installed the counters in one day on site. Good to see that after 12 months of daily use (when these photos taken) they still look like the day they were installed.

Furniture and fittings inspired by Art Deco style.
For this exclusive accommodation venue inspiration was taken from early 20th century French craftsmen such as Jules Leleu. The client defined the style as an Art Deco interpretation, then left us with creative freedom right down to a hand carved relief. The combinations of solid timber, veneer and stone imply a sense of opulent authenticity. Randal worked with the client on the design and sourcing of extra furnishings, flooring and lighting for the interior, some of which were commissioned to other local artists.
